What Brought Dean Here?

I’ve always been an optimist, but I do my best to understand and face reality, even when it’s unpleasant, in order to help my family and others, if I am able. In late 2008, the world gasped as the US economy stood at the brink of collapse, and the depth and duration of a true economic recovery is still unknown. While the financial markets have experienced a government orchestrated “lift” in recent months, they are a fragile and dangerous place for savings. It’s alarming to me that I meet so many people who are comfortable with most of their savings in the stock market. What I see is an economy which seems increasingly “government managed,” rather than moved by the forces of capitalism and private enterprise, along with deep economic problems yet to surface. I may be “all wet,” but my logic tells me that those in or planning retirement must be very, very careful.
